These sub-par announcers are driving me nuts!

One of the downsides of the Busch guys and the Cup guys running at different tracks, is the networks give us the ‘B’ team to call the Busch race. Tonight, this happens to be the team that normally calls the truck races and they keep calling the cars…..trucks. It’s very irritating.

Oh yeah, and this race sucks! Johnny Sauter is leading and can’t stand this moran. The nit-wit spun out a car just to bring out the caution so he could be the only car on the leas lap. However it doesn’t surprise me one bit, that is his style. At least Nascar penalized him for it

Oh this is just great, caution is out now because of rain and Johhny is still in the lead. Ugh!

Should be at the races tonight

The Busch guys are racing in Milwaukee tonight, and I had the opportunity to go, but it wasn’t meant to be I guess. My wife works weekends and all the babysitters are out of town.

I don’t mind so much really, the weather has been too hot for my taste. I will enjoy watching it on the tube with my kids.

Shane Hmiel has been suspended indefinately

I consider myself to be a fairly big Nascar fan, but with all the other crap in my life I find it hard to keep up with all the goings on of Nascar. Meaning the things outside of the actual races.

Now, if you’ve been following the Busch series this year(something I’ve been fairly able to do), you’ll know that Shane Hmiel has been somewhat in the spotlight more than once and not the good spotlight.

I really have nothing against Hmiel, but I’ve been unimpressed by his over-aggressive style and lack of respect he was showing his fellow racers. Well today while reading some stuff on NOL, I see that Hmiel has been suspendedagain… for substance abuse. Maybe this really explains a lot. However this is his second time, and I feel it’s time for Nascar to basically ban him from the sport, or at least all their series. There’s no room for this, or the attitude he’s been sporting all season. It’s too bad, because he has talent and he was just wasting it away.

What’s on the agenda for the weekend

Well, if the week never ends(which is how it’s feeling right now), I’ll be fighting MX records problems all weekend while trying to get one of two parties to admit blame. What a load of crap this can be sometimes!

If I do get this issue off of my plate, we have an opportunity to have a good holiday weekend. My wife usually works weekends and holidays, but this weekend she is only working Saturday so we have the potential to have two whole days together. Tomorrow is Brandons third skating lesson. I’ll be able to skate with him this week now that I have skates again. Sunday we some kind of a party to go, I think it’s a baptism party, but I don’t remember. Then Sunday evening is filled with 600 miles of racing action. Too bad that crappy Ryan Newman is on the pole again. Yawn!

As of right now Monday is still wide open to idea’s. I do think I’m going out for some hockey Monday evening though. See how the new pro tacks handle!

Weather will play a big factor in some of our decisions, but right now weather for the weekend looks fairly promising other than some light rain at night. Temperatures looks awesome hoovering between 65 – 70 which is where I like it!

Will it be a crash fest?

There’s reasons I like the Talladega race and there are reasons I don’t like it. I think it provides some of the best racing, but along with comes the stress of knowing that a huge multi-car wreck is just waiting to happen, And it’s not a matter of ‘if’ it’s a matter of when.

I thought yesterdays Busch race was pretty exciting even though there were two big wrecks, one involing Casey Mears going down a long stretch of the front straight away on his roof. Pretty scary stuff.

We’re about a half hour away from pre-race and I can’t wait.

IMAX Nascar 3D on DVD

If you’re a Nascar fan and didn’t get a chance to see Nascar 3D at an Imax theater, save yourself the cost and effort of renting or, gasp, buying this on DVD. I found it to be really boring and mostly a documentary of Nascar and it’s history. The only way it could possibly be entertaining is on an 8 story screen for the staged racing scenes. That being said, it may be interesting to someone new to Nascar.

Ugh! Kurt Busch with the points lead again

Just checked the current Cup standings at Nascar.com, and to my dismay, Kurt Busch(last years champ(and I use that term as loosely as possible)) is our current points leader. And there’s only 24 more races before the ‘Chase’ kicks off.

Of course we’ve only run 2 races so far, so maybe I’m jumping the gun just a little! :)

How about that Mark Martin, though? 2 good races, 3rd in points. He is who I would like to see win the championship this year. He’s just a cool guy. It was fun watching the Busch race where we won. But how about that rain delay and the grocery bag of food he got to eat. Too funny!
