I can’t help but wonder, but with all these companies announcing massive layoffs, are they doing it because they need to. Or are they using the current economic downturn as an excuse to trim the fat.

I wonder the same thing.
That’s a very good question. I would be willing to bet that most are doing it legitimately but some are just taking the opportunity to cut costs and remove people they don’t like.
I was just layed off.. The auto industry sucks and its management is forever lost.. not that they ever knew what they were doing in the first place.
Well when they laid me off at the dealership from what I saw it was greed.
It’s the same thing. the real problem was Bush cutting taxes for them and they still get problems because they didn’t plan ahead that left us dry!
