I haven’t been able to telnet (or tivoweb) into my Tivo for a couple of weeks, so I finally decided to figure out why this weekend. It didn’t take long, a quick search over at Tivo Community Forums showed I wasn’t alone. It was due to a recent software update. I looked at my system settings, and sure enough, I had the update.
From the sounds of it, updated startup scripts is what’s preventing telnet and ftpd from starting. From what I read, all the hack scripts and directories are still in tact. I just have to reinitiate the hacks. This means pulling the drive and hooking it up to a pc. Sounds like a project for next weekend.
